Artelia has developed extensive deconstruction and demolition activities, as a follow-on from its specialist activities in the area of building cleansing (removal of asbestos, lead linings and cladding). Artelia thus works ahead of development projects, in particular by refurbishing obsolescent buildings or carrying out soil decontamination or deconstruction operations on behalf of public- or private-sector clients. After the central tower of Jussieu university campus, Artelia began work on five apartment blocks in sector 6. In the Défense district of Paris, Artelia is carrying out asbestos removal, cleansing and demolition on the Air2 and D2 towers, and asbestos treatment and cleansing on the Athéna, Descartes and Iris towers. Lastly, Clermont-Ferrand hospital commissioned Artelia to carry out decontamination and deconstruction work at its historic site.
