Irrigation and rural development
![]() | Agriculture consumes most of the water abstracted around the world and has been the motive behind a large number of water resource development schemes. As rehabilitation is increasingly replacing the creation of new networks, Artelia is now applying its experience of networks and regulation systems to the modernisation and optimisation of existing installations. In Morocco, Artelia is thus helping to outsource the management of water supply and irrigation services in the 100,000 ha Doukkala area and is performing economic and institutional studies for the outsourcing of Loukkos, Tadla, Gharb and Moulouya irrigation areas. In Egypt, it is carrying out rehabilitation studies for the Nubaria and Ismailia canals. In Algeria, Artelia drew up an inventory of more than 130,000 irrigation areas, leading to the preparation of a national strategic programme. |
