Thanks to its strong expertise in sedimentology, river morphology, mud flows and hydro-sedimentary modelling, Artelia has an in-depth understanding of rivers, enabling it to design operational schemes that do not interfere with natural flow conditions and to assess and restore existing structures. Through reasoned use of conventional techniques (embankments, rockfill protection, sills and river training works) and more innovative ones (restoration of unconfined flow conditions), Artelia strives to reconcile the need for flood and erosion protection, navigation and tourist activities with respect for the ecological functions of aquatic environments. In Poland, Artelia is hence providing design and construction services for a programme of works to improve flood protection and modernise the river system flowing through the city of Wroclaw.
