Artelia partners the film "Marcher sur l'eau" (“Walking on water”), official selection of the Cannes Film Festival 2021
The film will be screened at Cannes on 9 July, in the "Cinema for the climate" category
For the first time, the Cannes Film Festival is dedicating a selection of films dedicated to climate and ecological commitment. Seven films will be presented on the Croisette in this category.
Directed by Aïssa Maïga, the feature-length documentary "Marcher sur l’eau" deals with water issues in West Africa in relation to climate change. Houlaye, 14, lives in the village of Tatis in Niger and walks dozens of kilometres every day to fetch water. This resource is abundant during the rainy season, but becomes scarce in the dry season. However, the inhabitants of the village have a source of water under their feet that would allow them to develop. Thanks to their mobilisation, they succeed in obtaining the construction of a borehole: the promise of a new life begins.
By supporting the Proarti endowment fund, Artelia is pleased to have contributed to the production of the film Marcher sur l’eau, which directly reflects:
- Artelia's historical leadership as a water and environmental engineer,
- the Group's presence in sub-Saharan Africa for several decades,
- and, more generally, Artelia's CSR commitments to the climate and resource conservation.
Mark your calendars!
The film will be released on 10 November 2021.
