Artelia extends its service portfolio by acquiring Gantha, a consultancy specialising in acoustics and fluid mechanics

Closing GANTHA

On 15 March 2019 the Artelia Group announced that it is acquiring engineering consultancy Gantha, with whom it intends to propose new environmental services and harness synergies in the fields of acoustics, pollution dispersion and fluid mechanics.

This operation enables Artelia, a leading French independent engineering firm specialising in the fields of building construction, infrastructure, industrial facilities, water and the environment, to acquire new expertise and broaden its existing portfolio of multi-disciplinary skills. The Group is hence enhancing its ability to provide all its clients with integrated services in the fields of acoustics – both building and environmental – and scientific computing applied to air quality and industrial risks.

In return, thanks to its volume of business and its dense network of branch offices, Artelia is offering Gantha a significant growth opportunity.

Renowned expertise in the acoustics field

Based in Poitiers and Bordeaux (western France), Gantha has been operating for more than 12 years in the construction, industry, energy and environment sectors with its team of about fifteen people.

As an expert in building acoustics, Gantha participates in all stages of construction and refurbishment projects from the initial assessments through to handover of the works. Its services range from studying indoor comfort and internal or external sound insulation through to protecting a neighbourhood against noise. Having acquired experience in this leading-edge field, Gantha is regularly commissioned by specifiers in the education, healthcare, culture and leisure sectors who are looking to implement a new project or refurbish an existing facility.

The consultancy also specialises in environmental acoustics, and works for various players in the industry, wind power and transport sectors. Gantha contributes to any type of project requiring an environmental noise impact assessment, an evaluation of existing noise levels including in situ measurements, the calculation of with-project conditions or the formulation of recommendations to bring facilities into conformity with current standards.

Scientific computing applied to air quality and industrial risk management

In the field of fluid mechanics, Gantha performs scientific computing assignments with a view to improving air quality (indoor and outdoor) by modelling pollutant and odour dispersion and defining solutions to bring structures and facilities into compliance with current standards.

In addition, in the area of industrial risks (fires, explosions, accidental gas leaks), Gantha uses state-of-the-art fluid mechanics and thermal modelling tools to define solutions aiming to reduce risks at industrial sites.

This scientific computing expertise complements Artelia’s in-house capabilities, for the benefit of the services delivered to clients.

As Benoît Clocheret, Chief Executive Officer of Artelia, explains: “With turnover of €1.5m in 2017, Gantha already had a strong reputation among its clients, from small businesses to major accounts and in both the private and public sectors. Artelia has been collaborating with teams from Gantha for many years. We believe our new relationship will bring real added value for clients and enable the group to develop new, ever more specialised services in areas such as the 3D simulation of air quality in a fire safety context. Requirements in regard to acoustics and fluid mechanics can only increase in the future”.

While continuing its R&D partnerships with the Pprime Institute, Gantha will now be able to offer its services to all Artelia’s clients, both in France and internationally.
