The new mayor of Bordeaux began his mandate in July 2020 by declaring a climate state of emergency, confirming his intention of strengthen the climate change resilience of the territory.
This concern must be integrated into the public policies of Bordeaux City Council and Métropole authority. With this in mind, Bordeaux Métropole authority commissioned Artelia for an Assistance to the Owner assignment, to assist it with establishment of its climate change adaptation strategy.
This work to structure the climate policy for the metropolis is based on three questions: what are the impacts of climate change on the territory (more serious heatwaves, fluvial-maritime risks, availability of water resources, etc.)? What are the levers for action that will allow the Métropole authority to improve climate resilience in the territory? How and when will these levers for action be activated with the territory's partners (establishment of the action plan)?
