Private motorway management company "Autoroutes du Sud de la France" (ASF) wants to take climate change impacts into account in the design and maintenance of its infrastructure.
This is related in particular to the need to comply with new regulatory obligations: impact assessments must now include a description of the "impacts of the project on the climate, and the vulnerability of the project to climate change".
The results of the climate resilience assessment concern the project to build a slip road between the westbound A8 and the northbound A51 motorways in Aix-en-Provence.
This assignment involves:
- factoring climate change into the multi-criterion analysis performed during the study prior to public consultation,
- comparing the capacities of the project variants to withstand the impacts of climate change,
- assessing the climate resilience of the project for the three climate hazards selected,
- identifying the project design components that take climate change impacts into account.
