New container terminal at the port of Tema

New container terminal at the port of Tema
Context & Issues

The port of Tema, which handles 70% of Ghana’s commercial activities, is looking to increase its container capacity by 3.5 million TEU. At the request of the scheme’s developers, the Maersk and Bolloré groups, Artelia’s teams set about completing the feasibility and design studies for the new port (wave, current and navigation studies, overall layout of the port, construction schedule and construction method) within a particularly tight deadline. The future development will comprise nearly 4 km of breakwaters, 1400 m of quays and more than 300 ha of terminals
