The regional, departmental and intermunicipal authorities have decided to commission a project to extend installations at Port-La-Nouvelle, the study of which had been launched in 2012.
The development of a 70-ha harbour basin capable of accommodating larger ships (14.5 m draft), reinforcement of the terminals (hydrocarbons, liquid and dry bulk) and creation of an industrial area equipped with connections to the railway network will make it possible to increase significantly the appeal of this port, which is scheduled to accommodate an offshore wind farm.
- New breakwater: L = 2,400 m
- Secondary breakwater: L = 600 m
- Harbour basin: 70 ha
- Four berths: for hydrocarbons and liquid bulk goods, dry bulk goods, multipurpose berth, berth for construction of infrastructure for development of floating wind turbines
- Reclaimed land area: 25 ha
