Context & Issues

AFD’s mandate to support Green and Inclusive growth in Indonesia was reinforced in May 2011 with the establishment of a unique partnership with the UK Department for International Development to promote low-carbon investments.

Focusing on the energy sector, AFD technical cooperation is declined to each energy sub-sector in combining public policy support and assistance to specific pilot projects in order to maximize the leverage of the subsidy financing tool.

Assignments

Technical assistance:

Analysis of local regulations for various renewable sources (small and medium Hydropower, Geothermal, Solar, Marine energy) and bioenergy sub-sectors (biomass, biofuel, energy recovery, agribusiness sugar, rice, etc.). Review of incentive framework.
Identification of projects / technical support actions in order to encourage the development and financing of viable projects. The aim of the technical assistance is, in particular, to give an insight into financing opportunities for AFD and other financing institutions;
Implementation of the previously identified technical support actions (feasibility studies, seminars, proposals for institutional and financial mechanisms, etc.)
