Extension of La Part-Dieu shopping centre

Extension of La Part-Dieu shopping centre
Context & Issues

The Part-Dieu shopping centre in Lyon, which was opened in 1975, is showing its age even though it still draws in more than 30 million visitors each year. Unibail-Rodamco, owner of the centre, has hence decided to refurbish and extend it, in an operation tying in with the project to renovate the entire Part-Dieu business district. Artelia has been appointed lead firm in the design and construction supervision consortium for this project and is handling a variety of assignments including coordination of studies, construction economics, complete utilities design and supervision, and BIM management. The project will create 32 000 m2 of additional space for a cinema, restaurants and shops, and reconfigure many of the existing facilities (entrances, interior connections, terraces, public areas).
