A11 motorway - Angers North by-pass

Creation of a third lane
A11 motorway - Angers North by-pass - Creation of a third lane
Context & Issues

The project involves the creation of a third lane in each direction between the Angers Ouest (no. 15) and Angers Centre (no. 17) interchanges of the Angers north by-pass (A11 motorway).

The aim is to contribute to the transport and development policies implemented by local authorities, which have two objectives:

  • reorganise the access routes to the centre of the urban area by diverting some of the traffic to the by-pass
  • improve the drawing power of the new districts located in the northern outskirts of Angers.

This operation will bring about a durable improvement in travel conditions in the Angers urban area, by making traffic flows smoother and enhancing safety.

In compliance with article L.130-2 of the French code of urban planning, the project included a public consultation phase. This phase, which was coordinated by the Prefect of the Maine-et-Loire department, was implemented between 5 March 2018 and 6 April 2018.
