Hydraulics laboratory, physical scale models
Artelia has a 10,000 m2 hydraulics laboratory with longstanding international experience, whose activity is increasing. Developments in the field of numerical modelling in no way reduce the need for physical scale models. Testing facilities equipped with sophisticated control and measuring systems are used to study and validate the design of complex hydraulic structures such as dams, water intakes, pumping stations, siphons and vortex shafts. The laboratory also has first-rank experience in modelling sedimentary dynamics in rivers (erosion and sedimentation downstream of dams or around bridges) and torrents (mudslides).
