R\u00e9alit\u00e9 probl\u00e9matique pour plusieurs pays de cette r\u00e9gion, l\u2019\u00e9rosion c\u00f4ti\u00e8re est l\u2019un des sujets phares de ce programme.\u00a0<\/p><p>Artelia est ainsi intervenu sur l\u2019\u00e9tude de la faisabilit\u00e9 d\u2019une protection c\u00f4ti\u00e8re pour le segment frontalier Togo-B\u00e9nin (48 km de elementor-size-default\">CONTEXTE &amp; ENJEUX<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-58f07dc5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"58f07dc5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Financ\u00e9 par la Banque mondiale, le programme WACA (West Africa Coastal Management) est n\u00e9 du constat que les zones littorales, qui comptent parmi les espaces les plus peupl\u00e9s et dynamiques du continent africain, sont tr\u00e8s fragilis\u00e9es par la surexploitation des ressources, les pollutions et le changement climatique. La Banque mondiale estime qu\u2019environ un tiers des habitants d\u2019Afrique de l\u2019Ouest vivent dans ces zones c\u00f4ti\u00e8res qui sont \u00e0 l\u2019origine de 56 % du PIB des pays concern\u00e9s (p\u00eache, agro-industrie, activit\u00e9s portuaires, industrie p\u00e9troli\u00e8re\u2026). Or, sous l\u2019effet du changement climatique, ces zones connaissent des transformations inqui\u00e9tantes (r\u00e9chauffement et \u00e9l\u00e9vation du niveau de la mer, glissement de terrain, onde de temp\u00eate et submersion, \u00e9rosion c\u00f4ti\u00e8re pouvant atteindre 10 m\/an\u2026). Elles sont \u00e9galement le r\u00e9ceptacle d\u2019importantes pollutions urbaines et industrielles, et sujettes \u00e0 la surexploitation des ressources et \u00e0 la d\u00e9gradation des habitats naturels[1].<\/p><p>Afin de construire une strat\u00e9gie de pr\u00e9servation du littoral et de sauvegarder les services \u00e9co syst\u00e9miques associ\u00e9s, WACA rassemble plusieurs pays autour de ces diff\u00e9rentes probl\u00e9matiques, en finan\u00e7ant des \u00e9tudes et des plans d\u2019action. Engag\u00e9 dans plusieurs projets de ce programme, Artelia a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 en 2020 une \u00e9tude portant sur la protection contre l\u2019\u00e9rosion de 50 km de littoral entre le Togo (de Gbodjom\u00e9 \u00e0 Hillacondji) et le B\u00e9nin (de Hillacondji \u00e0 Gbekon). L\u2019exp\u00e9rience ayant montr\u00e9 que des solutions apport\u00e9es en amont peuvent avoir des r\u00e9percussions n\u00e9gatives en aval, la gestion concert\u00e9e du littoral entre les deux pays s\u2019est impos\u00e9e comme une approche indispensable.<\/p><p>Mobilisant ses experts et ses outils (mod\u00e9lisation, suivi par drone), Artelia a commenc\u00e9 par caract\u00e9riser cette \u00e9rosion transfrontali\u00e8re, en dressant le bilan des dynamiques s\u00e9dimentaires et en mod\u00e9lisant l\u2019\u00e9volution de pr\u00e8s de 80 km de littoral depuis la fronti\u00e8re entre le Ghana et le Togo jusqu\u2019\u00e0 La Bouche du Roy (B\u00e9nin).
