PIAT 22005: industrial water sources for the EPR2 BdM2 construction site

Conducting a feasibility study to identify potential industrial water sources for the construction phase of the EPR2 BdM2 project.

CONTEXT & ISSUES

As part of the EPR2 project, the Operations Department, under the authority of the EPR2 Project Directorate, is managing the construction of the first site (BdM1 – Penly), as well as the preparation of subsequent construction sites.

The service entrusted to the GMES consortium (Artelia / ABMI) consisted of conducting a feasibility study to identify various options for supplying industrial water during the construction phase, in the required volumes and quality, and adapted to the specific needs of each zone of the site.

Performed services

  • Comprehensive identification of potential water sources located within or near the EPR2 BdM2 construction site perimeter.
  • Consideration of all industrial water requirements for the construction phase (required volumes, expected quality, timeline and location of needs, etc).
  • Identification of applicable regulations, particularly regarding the reuse of treated wastewater.
  • Description of main water treatment processes and potential alternative supply solutions, including their associated technical and economic constraints.
  • Identification of key actions to be undertaken as part of the preliminary design phase.
