Why include the gender dimension in projects?

Integrating the gender dimension into the design and implementation of construction and infrastructure projects using the transformative “Projects & Gender” methodology.

EDITO

Faced with the major challenges of our time, whether technological, environmental or social, each development must be designed to meet the real expectations of its future users while minimising its impact on the planet. In other words, each project must have the overriding ambition of being genuinely sustainable in all its dimensions.

In this respect, Artelia, as a major engineering group with offices on five continents, has a particular responsibility. Our raison d’être also reminds us of this. Our duty is to ” Designing solutions for a positive life “, in other words infrastructures, buildings and industrial facilities that contribute to the development and well-being of each and every person, whether male or female.

It is therefore essential to take the gender dimension into account in the design, construction and future use of the projects we work on. It’s a requirement that has been ignored or insufficiently integrated into the project development process for far too long.

That’s why, through the transformative “Projects & Gender” method illustrated in this video, we want not only to share our thoughts and experience in this area, but above all to be a source of inspiration for all project owners and players in the construction industry.

I sincerely hope that the few pages of this booklet will inspire you to work with us on places to work, play and live that, by their very design, help to build a world that is more respectful of individuality, a world that is, all in all, more inclusive.
