Construction of Sunbay Park in Vietnam

A major hotel and leisure complex, the country’s first apart-hotel

Located on the shores of Phan Rang Bay in southern Vietnam, this vast hotel complex (3,300 rooms and flats) is one of the country’s first “apart-hotels”. Rated 5*, it offers top-of-the-range facilities, both architecturally and functionally, as well as in terms of services (9 swimming pools, 3 sports rooms, 9 restaurants, etc.).

Artelia was responsible for the management and cost control of this prestigious project.

CONTEXT & ISSUES

Contributing to the development of tourism in the Phan Rang region, the Sunbay Park hotel & resort is a large-scale complex offering a wide range of services and leisure facilities (beaches, swimming pools, sports facilities, spa, cinema, themed restaurants, shopping centre, etc.). It is made up of three buildings of 40, 48 and 55 storeys, the highest of which is 270 m high. The complex has over 3,000 rooms and flats spread over 300,000 m2 of floor space.

The architects and designers designed the buildings with rounded edges to facilitate air circulation, and arranged them so that each room has a seaview. The interior fittings and decoration are firmly inspired by local culture. The project won the 2019 World Architecture Awards and Lotus Gold certification (the Vietnamese environmental label) for its use of natural and local materials (bamboo, ceramics, etc.), its water management and the project management techniques implemented.
