Manitou Candé

Quality and ergonomic tooling to optimize an assembly line

Specialized in the design and manufacture of material handling, lifting and earthmoving equipment, Manitou is a world leader in certain segments of this market. It has several production sites in France, and has built a new factory in Candé, the group’s most modern in terms of automation and ergonomics. Artelia contributed to its equipment by providing turnkey tooling adapted to the high standards of the new site.

CONTEXT & ISSUES

In March 2022, Manitou inaugurated its new production site in Candé. Covering an area of 18,000 m², the plant produces all-terrain aerial work platforms, which are marketed worldwide. Its infrastructure and equipment have been designed to optimize production, by minimizing energy consumption, and to improve the working environment for operators in order to reduce the arduousness of assembly tasks. The digitization and automation of workstations are part of this drive to boost productivity and improve the ergonomics of production lines.

On this site, Artelia delivered a set of tools for transporting parts produced on the production line. Our teams produced this turnkey tooling, from design studies through to commissioning. They were responsible for calculations, manufacturing, assembly, fine-tuning and testing in the workshop, right through to final installation on site.

Artelia’s aim was to ensure perfect integration of these carts in the manufacturing process (models with tilt cylinder, tube-mobile and tube-fixed), by proposing innovative adjustment solutions to improve user comfort. The aim was to fully meet the customer’s requirement to optimize production space in terms of safety, performance and quality.
